When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix logs. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Hi HJT Team!

My Eeepc 604ha(Windows XP 160gb hdd 2gb ram) seems to be riddeled with viruses and trojans at the moment. Ill start by saying that im a 3rd year Computer science student and I use my laptop extensivly for programing and other uni tasks, so needless to say i dont want to have to format it and start again.

My Desktop PC first started showing virus symptoms after installing imgburn and my Dvd writer stoped working, so i tried to system restore it. System restore was non-functional. So i went to safe mode to try restoring from there. This made matters worse. "System security 2009" installed itself while in safe mode in my Administrator profile (My normaly profile is just a user). Took me a while but i killed that off. My Desktop is still non-functional but i dont have as big an issue with formating that so i will do that to clean it up. My first question is how do i make sure the other partition and other hard drive are clean of malware so i dont re inffect myself ?

Now needles to say when my laptop started showing similar symptoms i approached it in a more proactive way. System restore was not enabled, so that wasnt an option but it too looked as though it wouldn't work even if it had been enabled. I ran Spybot Search and destroy, AVG 8.5 and SUPERAntiSpyware. These cleared up a 30-40 infections that i had but i still have some problems. System restore still looks bodgy. Links from Google are redirecting to advertising sites. When i start up the computer processes with randomly generated names launch, either 463.exe or b.exe (With different numbers or letters each time). I have been manualy terminating these processes but they repop after some time anyway. Apart from thoes things I can't find much else wrong with it.

Thanks for your help in advanced.

~Steve

Edit: Just formated my desktop. Installed windows xp > Installed drivers > updated to Sp3 > Installed firefox > Installed Avg. While avg was installing i got reinfected some how. =.=''
