As a guest, you can browse and view the various discussions in the forums, but can not create a new topic or reply to an existing one unless you are logged in. Other benefits of registering an account are subscribing to topics and forums, creating a blog, and having no ads shown anywhere on the site. When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix logs. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.
To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

So here it is: Recently, I suddenly became infected with some kind of malware. What that is, I have yet to figure out. my HJT logs and SS&D scans turned up nothing out of the oridinary, but I am experiencing many of the symptoms of adware (i.e. google links being redirected, etc). All of this, plus I'm blue screening once every 10-15 minutes (this is my 2nd time writing this). This was all something I normally would have fixed on my own, but then the following started occuring. Up in the top right area of my screen is this red outline of a rectangle that seems to have superimposed itself there. I think this is too coincidental to be a monitor problem, but it didn't happen until 6-12 hours after the initial malware symptoms arose. here's a screenshot of what it looks like (pardon my friends and I in IRC) http://i44.tinypic.com/537682.jpg I hope someone can walk me through both problems. Thanks in advance This post has been edited by garmanma: Jul 4 2009, 08:44 AM |

Hi WarVet,
Do you mean the red patch like a fuzzy frame around an empty rectangulare space? You posted to us on the 4th of July. Did you note the day this first appeared? Please do the following scans. After we look at those, I may ask you to follow this with a rootkit scan. Step 1: ATF Cleaner
Step 2: MalwareBytes
Step 3: Next I would like for you to run an online scan called BitDefender Note: You can only run this scan with Internet Explorer with Active X enabled.
Step 4: Please post the logs or reports for the following:
BitDefender Let me know how this went? Zllio |

sorry about probably necroposting, but I had fixed it the problem on my own. Thanks though.
