Hi garmanma, I have run sfc please see post number 9, http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic235425.html I don't think i can resolve this problem without recovery disc,which is with my nephew,so if you wish you can close this topic,unless someone can come up with another way of solving this. does this computer have a recovery partition? if yes. http://support.asus.com/technicaldocuments...n-us&NO=498 if no. have your nephew put the discs in the mail. should have them in a couple days. good luck

Hi keny111111, Thanks for your reply, the laptop does have a partition but doesn't show anything on it,as i will be sending it back to him tomorrow i have printed the article in the link you have posted so if it asks for disc he can use that.
