I am having trouble accessing IE. I can load firefox. I've tried mulitple fixes from previous suggstions but no luck on any, they are all a temp fix. IE will load a couple of times and then back to not loading. Some very helpful people but still looking for something new to try. I've reset my router, I've done all the malware and spyware suggestions, I'm at the end of my ropes so suggestions greatly appreciated. Win sock reset thing has been done etc.. |

Have you repaired IE? Have you tried to see if an upgrade of IE will solve it?

Yes, went to IE 8 and still the same.
In fact, you are the one that I replied to last time and stated that I tried your tips and it may work for a couple of times but back to non working and mozilla. I was hoping you would reply with new ideas but when nothing was sent back, I figured I should start a new post. This post has been edited by pattat11: Jul 2 2009, 01:02 PM |

forgive me if these have been tried, but I saw no indication that they had been...
...and also if I'm not supposed to try helping, being a new member and all... 1st : make sure your temporary files have been dumped. 2nd : Try starting with no add-ons There are a two easy methods to do this. A: click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools and click on Internet Explorer - No add ons B: click Start -> Run and enter the following -> iexplore.exe -extoff 3rd : Try reregistering Internet Explorer by clicking Start -> Run and entering -> regsvr32.exe c:\program files\internet explorer\ieproxy.dll If 1 and 2 don't work, then apply 3 and try the icon first, then 1 and 2 again if the icon fails to start IE. Is it safe to assume you have had the task manager open and watched to see if the iexplore process starts when the icon is clicked? I worked on a computer about a year ago that was doing the same thing with respect to IE. Ends up the owner was "cleaning the registry" and had deleted the IE DLL. Reregistering restored it. I'll be stopping back to check up once in a while to see if you are restored to working order. Thanks for trying.
I thought it made sense because I had used a reg cleaner. Again not sure if this will help because sometimes IE starts and sometimes it does not. Step 1 and 2 and 3 as I tried this said the file could not be found. But then I tried clicking on IE and then it opened but thats what happens...it will work a few times and then just stop. |

I would suggest you post a DDS log in the HijackThis Logs and Virus/Trojan/Spyware/Malware Removal forum and ask to have your log file checked out. You may have something weird going on that they can find and cure.
Be patient. The requests are constant and many, but the results are worth the wait. I'm in the final stages of being "cleaned up" and I'm thrilled with the results so far. Until I'm certified through the training they offer, I cannot really offer too much more. Joe -------------------- Common sense to some is the higher education others strive to attain.

Hello,
Now that you have posted a log here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic241328.html you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a HJT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. From this point on the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.
