Hi,
I see you are running Teatimer. I suggest you to disable it because it can interfere with the changes you'll make on your system. When everything is done and your log is clean again, you can enable it again. If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it. How to disable TeaTimer <== click me for instructions. After you disabled Teatimer, download ResetTeaTimer.bat to your desktop. (In case you use Firefox, rightclick the link and choose "save as"). Doubleclick ResetTeaTimer.bat and let it run. This will only take a few seconds. Then, I see you have Viewpoint installed... Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This will change from what we know in 2006 read this article: http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546 I suggest you remove the program now. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet. Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log. -------------------- AntispywareScanners---Antivirus Scanners---Firewalls---Online Scanners---Prevention---Help! Hello,
Thanks for such the fast reply! Before I posted this yesterday, I followed the bleepingcomputer tutorial on what to install before I post anything in the forums. I installed everything (stinger, ad-aware 2007, etc). Afterwards, all the pop-ups stopped! I'm glad there are no more pop-ups, but i didn't know if the malware or whatever was causing the popups was still in my system. I followed the instructions you gave me, but the Combofix didn't seem to work smoothly. I received several messages similar to this: Find3m The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction CS:1900 IP:iffa OP: 8e 1e 00 Chose 'close' to terminate the application I got about nine of these total, both before and after combofix rebooted my computer. I clicked ignore on all of them and everything else continued as normal. Thanks for all of your help so far. Here are the two logs. Hi,
Well, Combofix did a good job anyway. Just some leftovers we have to delete, so navigate to and delete the following folder: C:\Program Files\OINAnalytics Then, Scan with HijackThis and check next entry in it: O20 - AppInit_DLLs: angwlo.dll Click the fix checked button below. Then, * Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field: ComboFix /u Make sure there's a space between Combofix and / Then hit enter. This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again. Let me know in your next reply how things are now. -------------------- AntispywareScanners---Antivirus Scanners---Firewalls---Online Scanners---Prevention---Help! Hello,
Everything is running great! Thanks so much for your help. Should I be keeping all these programs I downloaded, like Stinger and HJT? Should I be running them regularly? Thanks again, Henry |

Hi,
No need to keep Stinger and HijackThis. Stinger is a standalone tool and everytime you want to use it, you need to redownload it anyway since it won't auto-update itself again. HijackThis is only an analysis tool. Glad I could help. Please read my Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future. And if you want to improve speed/system performance after malware removal, take a look here. Extra note: Make sure your programs are up to date - because older versions may contain Security Leaks. To find out what programs need to be updated, please run the Secunia Software Inspector Scan.
